WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Bruins men's tennis team competed on Saturday on the second day of the ITA Regionals. Fox saw success in their singles and doubles matches, taking three spots in the singles and two spots in the doubles semifinals.
How it Happened
Eli Mizerski,
Hunter Fujimori, and
Vahag Pashayan will be heading into the singles semifinals. Mizerski grabbed his spot after successfully beating Linfield's Seth Lee, 6-3, 6-4, and later beating teammate
Alle Banna, 6-3, 6-4. On the other side of the bracket, Ebusu easily won his first match of the day, 6-0, 6-1, before facing teammate Pashayan. That match would be close, with Pashayan coming away with the win, 7-6 (3), 6-4. After winning their first match of the day,
Zach Moore and
Hunter Fujimori played for the semifinal final spot. Fujimori was able to take the match, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles action, Pashayan and
Lars Schmassmann won their first match 8-2 before dropping a tightly contested match, 8-7 (7). The duo of Fujimore and Moore won both matches on Saturday to gain a spot in Sunday's semifinals.
River Apatu and Banna won their first doubles match, 8-4, before losing to Whitman, 8-3. The number two doubles team of Mizerski and Ebisu won both of their matches on Saturday to advance to Sunday's semifinal.
What It Means
The Bruins continue on the final day of the ITA regionals tomorrow, September 24th. Matches are set to start at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, with the Bruins competing in both the singles and doubles semifinals.
