Bruins Push Past Wildcats With Impressive Offensive Display

NEWBERG, Ore. --.The George Fox Men's Basketball team was lethal from deep on Wednesday night, shooting at 40% from beyond the arc to push past the Linfield Wildcats, 86-77.

How It Happened
The Bruins exploded from the opening whistle, going on a 13 point run which included three straight layups from Aiden Price to grab a 12 point lead. However, the Wildcats went on a nine point run of their own later in the half to pull back within four. By the end of the period, Price was already in double digits, and the Bruins went into halftime ahead, 40-36.

The two teams traded points early in the second half, with both sides applying heavy offensive pressure. Momo Stokes dropped five straight points to extend Fox's lead, but Linfield quickly retaliated, and the game quickly turned into a tight contest.

With five minutes left the Wildcats had managed to pull within just one point, but a deep three pointer from Kade Sorenson and free throws from Stokes helped them establish a cushion. Another three pointer from James Moore sealed the victory, the Bruins eventually winning the game, 86-77.

Top Performances
The Bruins impressed as an offensive unit, with five players finishing the day in double digit points. Aiden Price led the way with 17 points, Momo Stokes and Samuel Stewart IV each put up 16, while James Moore and Charlie Powers ended the day with 15 and 10 respectively. Defensively, Austin Clark led the team with one steal, while James Moore, Samuel Stewart IV and Nick Greenwood all had two blocks.

Coach's Thoughts
"We were tasked with recalibrating after the Whits weekend," Bruin head coach Maco Hamilton said, "As a program we recognized areas of deficit that we have to correct moving forward and the lead up to tonight's game culminated in the result, which we are all ecstatic about. We have much work to continue, but tonight was a good start."

What It Means
The Bruins improve to 12-4 overall (5-2 NWC), while Linfield falls to 5-11 (0-7 NWC).

What's Next
The Bruins will travel to Salem, Ore. on Saturday for their next matchup against the Willamette Bearcats. The game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
