McMinnville, Ore. --The George Fox men's soccer team picked up their second straight win with an impressive road performance against the Linfield Wildcats, 3-1.
How It Happened
George Fox fell behind early in the game after a Wildcats goal in the second minute of play off of a corner kick. The Bruin offense retaliated immediately, however, dominating both field position and ball control over the next ten minutes.
Fox broke through in the 13th minute, when
Harrison Emert put one through on the back of assists by
Isaac Wilson and
Joshua Chang on a wild double-bicycle goal. From there, the Bruin offense was firing on all cylinders – outshooting Linfield 11-2 for the first half.Â
Isaac Williams scored Fox's next goal off an assist from
Kellin Aguiar, extending their lead, 2-1. The Bruins would strike once more before the period ended, with a solo goal from
Harrison Emert sending Fox into halftime with all the momentum and a commanding lead, 3-1.
The second half was a much tighter contest, with both teams trading field position and vying for ball control. Fox strung together three unanswered shots early in the period, but was unable to put any of them on goal. Fox's defense was impenetrable for the remainder of the game, though, with Huttinger making three more saves to keep Linfield at bay despite the increase in offensive pressure. The Bruins outshot the Wildcats 17-7 on their way to picking up the road win, 3-1.
