NEWBERG, Ore. -- The George Fox men's soccer team lost 3-0 at home this Saturday in their match against the Pacific Lutheran Lutes.

How It Happened

The Lutes began the game quickly with Connor O'Brien scoring a goal assisted by Craig Johnson in the 11th minute of the game. For the rest of the first half the George Fox defense kept the Lutes at bay. The Lutes had nine shots in the first half compared to Fox's three. 

Heading into the second half Pacific Lutheran added another goal to the scoreboard from player Quinn Bieber in the 68th minute of the game. In the 83rd minute, the Lutes capitalized again and scored their third and final goal of the game; the goal was scored by Craig Johnson. Though the Bruins lost they had a tough defensive fight against the Lutes. Pacific Lutheran had a total of 21 shots in comparison to George Fox's 12 shots. Although the Lutes outshot the Bruins, the Bruins had ten saves over the Lutes three saves. 

Top Performers
Eugene Peltier had four shots. Kellin Aguiar had three shots. Goalkeeper Justin Huttinger had ten saves. The George Fox defensive line fought hard against the Lutes 21 shots.

Coach's Thoughts
"Today was tough, and PLU deserves a great deal of credit for making the day difficult," said Head Coach Paul Karver. "We responded well in the second half and created a number of moments. In the end, PLU was better on the day, and now we need to prepare for a very good UPS team." 

What It Means
George Fox now has a record of 6-2-1 heading into the remainder of their season. Pacific Lutheran now have a record of 5-1-3.

What Comes Next
George Fox men's soccer will be competing in their next game against Puget Sound at Austin Sports Complex in Newberg. Kickoff is scheduled at 12pm on October 6th.
