NEWBERG, Ore. -- The George Fox men's soccer team took a 1-0 home win this Sunday against Puget Sound.
How It Happened
The George Fox Bruins kicked their game off strong today with Senior
Connor Kong scoring a beautiful goal in the first nine minutes of the game. Kong's goal was assisted by defender
Elijah Soon when Soon made a run up the right-hand side of the field finding the ball and chipping it over Puget Sound's defenders. Kong was able to get his head on the ball and flick it backward over the goalkeeper into the middle of the net. The Bruins took the lead 1-0 heading into the second half of the game.
Despite Puget Sound's efforts, the Bruins kept them at bay. Both teams had many shots, the Loggers had 12 shots to the Bruins 11. The game was fought hard on both ends with five yellow cards being given between both teams. The George Fox defense held off the Loggers and had zero goals against even with Puget Sound having nine corners.

Connor Kong had a goal and four shots.
Elijah Soon played 90 minutes and had an assist. Goalkeeper
Justin Huttinger had three saves and a shutout. The George Fox defense held their own.
Coach's Thoughts
"Today was a fantastic response in a game we believe we needed to win," said Head Coach
Paul Karver. "Sunday games are always difficult, and while we certainly have some areas to improve, we showed significant grit in the final phases of the game to get the win."

George Fox adds another win to their record making it 7-2-1. The Puget Sound Loggers head home with a loss and a new record of 4-3-2.
