Fox Falls to Loggers in Low Scoring Affair

TACOMA, Wash. -- The George Fox men's soccer team was unable to overcome an early deficit in their road game against the Puget Sound Loggers, dropping just their fourth game of the season, 0-1.

How It Happened
The Bruins faced an early setback when the Loggers struck just one minute into the game, capitalizing on a quick break through the backline to go up, 1-0. George Fox pushed back with urgency, however, as the game developed into a competitive, high-energy first half. The two sides traded possession back and forth, and though the Bruins forced four corner kicks, they were ultimately outshot 2-1 for the period. Heading into halftime, George Fox found themselves still down, 0-1.

The second half saw Fox fight to level the score, outshooting the Loggers 3-1 for the period. Much of the play was concentrated around midfield, though, with frequent throw-ins and goal kicks disrupting momentum on both sides. In the closing minutes, George Fox created two last-ditch scoring chances, but the Logger defense held firm. Despite their late-game surge, the Bruins were unable to equalize, and the match ended in a narrow defeat, 0-1.

Top Performers
Eugene Peltier led the offense with two shots, while Kilinahe Waring and Talon Wagner finished the day with one each.

Coach's Thoughts
"Today was very difficult and sometimes there are situations out of your control," said Bruins head coach Paul Karver. "The guys fought hard to overcome the early deficit, but in the end, their defence was solid and we didn't make the chances we created."

What It Means
The Bruins fall to 12-4-1 (8-4-1 NWC) on the season, while Puget Sound improves to 6-4-6 (5-2-6 NWC).

What Happens Next
The Bruins will take the field next in a road match against the undefeated Northwest Conference leader Pacific Lutheran (10-1-5, 8-0-4 NWC) on Sunday, November 3rd. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in Tacoma, Wash.
