Bruins Fall to Lutes 4-0 in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. -- The George Fox men's soccer team lost 4-0 in their away match against Pacific Lutheran Sunday.

How It Happened
Pacific Lutheran started off the game strong, scoring in the first 12 minutes of the game. The goal was scored by Lute player Craig Johnson. In the 42nd minute of the game, Pacific Lutheran scored again with a goal from Connor O'Brien shot towards the bottom left corner. At the end of the first half, the Bruins had a total of five shots and two saves.

The Lutes scored two more additional goals in the 67th minute and the 79th minute of the game — giving them the final score of 4-0. George Fox finished the game with a total of six shots to Pacific Lutheran's 18 shots. Though George Fox had fewer shots, they outsaved the Lutes five to two.

Top Performers
Eugene Peltier, Kellin Aguiar, and Joshua Chang all had shots on goal. Harrison Emert had two shots on goal. Goalkeeper Justin Huttinger had five saves.

Coach's Thoughts
"PLU is a very good group," said Bruins head coach Paul Karver. "As well as we played to start the match, and then again in long stretches, they showed their quality in how they made the most of their chances. The score certainly isn't a fair reflection of the game, but again, they answered the questions we asked and that was the difference."

What It Means
The George Fox men's soccer team now has an overall record of 12-5-1 and an NWC record of 8-5-1. Pacific Lutheran now has an overall record of 12-1-5 and an NWC record of 10-0-4. With this win, Pacific Lutheran clinches the NWC title.

What Comes Next
George Fox travels back to Oregon for their final weekend of play starting off with a game against Lewis and Clark in Portland on Saturday, November 9th at 11:00am.
