NEWBERG, Ore. -- Bruins finish day two of the PNW Invite with hopeful eyes on the Spring season.
How it Happened
Flipping the format from Saturday's play, the Bruins started their morning with doubles action, followed by singles action in the afternoon. The format continued to be a four-team round-robin with the Bruins facing Division I opponents University of Idaho, Portland State, and Seattle University.
Lars Schmassmann and
Ikuho Ebisu kicked things off for the Bruins, teaming up against Idaho's Eric Wang and Yu-Shun Lai. Despite a back and forth match, the Vandals ended up taking it 6-4.
Keita Shoji and
Zach Moore competed as the other Fox duo, dropping their match 6-2 to Idaho's Chetanna Amadike and Sebastian Medica.Â
In singles play, the Bruins continued their battle against top-tier opponents. Schmassmann took on Idaho's Wang yet again, eventually losing the battle 6-2, 6-1. Moore faced Vandal Noe De Col, who Ebisu bested on Saturday, but he wasn't so lucky this time around. De Col won the match 6-4, 7-5.Â
Luis Hernandez played his first and only match of the day against the Redhawk's Jayden Harrison, dropping the first set 6-1. The second set was more competitive, as Hernandez fell 6-4 to finish the match.Â
Ebisu was the only Bruin to play two singles matches on Sunday, dropping his first to Seattle's Dario Ristovski 6-3, 6-4. During the second match, Ebisu gave it his all against the Viking's Hubert Theriault, but couldn't get it done as he lost the match 7-6(6), 6-2.Â
Shoji played Oliver Hall from Seattle University for his singles match on Sunday, dropping his match to the Redhawk Senior 6-2, 6-1.Â
