TACOMA, Wash. -- The George Fox women's soccer team had a close loss against No. 21 Pacific Lutheran this Sunday, nearly pulling off the upset until a 87th-minute game winner doomed the Bruins to a 2-1 loss .
How It Happened
Pacific Lutheran started things off with a goal in the first 13 minutes of the game on a high center shot from Lute player Olivia Boehm. Going into the second half, Fox had totaled just one shot, but only trailed the Lutes, 0-1.
In the 77th minute of the game senior Becca Kodak put away a lower right goal for the Bruins — tying the game up 1-1 and putting the Bruins within upset range. A solid flick from
Alexis Breer gave Kozak a pathway to the goal with just the goalie to beat; the senior put away the shot to knot the game.
Still hanging on, the Lutes added another goal to the board in the 87th minute to break the Bruins' hearts. PLU's Bella Hanna's header to the top right of the goal spelled defeat for the Bruins, as Fox did not have enough time to muster another goal. The Bruins had fought hard against the No. 21 Lutes, but ultimately fell short.
