Fox Dominates Doubles and Singles Matches Against Willamette

NEWBERG, Ore. – The George Fox Women's tennis team won all nine matches on Sunday to beat the Willamette Bearcats in a non-conference match-up. The Bruins finished the weekend going a perfect 18-0 in their two matches.

How it Happened
Heading into their second match of the weekend, the Bruins switch up their pairings in doubles play. These changes did not change the positive play that Fox has seen over the last two weeks. The combination of Kalli Wiker and Kylie Hull saw success, beating their opponent, 8-0. The two Fox freshmen, Riley Bobkiewicz and Shananh Denham, were the number two doubles team. The two made quick work of their opponent winning, 8-1. On court three were Elizabeth Cook and Abigail Bond, the duo won their match, 8-2.

In singles play, the Bruins continued winning. Kalli Wiker dominated her matchup in the number one spot with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Riley Bobkiewicz saw similar success winning, 6-1, 6-0. Kylie Hull's match started close in the first set, 7-5, before coming out swinging in the second set, taking a commanding win, 6-1. On court five, Sophie Denham continued the dominance of the Bruins, winning her match, 6-4, 6-1. Cassey Hitch closed out the sweep for the Bruins when she came out with the 6-3, 6-0 victory.

Coach's Thoughts
"This weekend, we played solid tennis," said Bruin head coach Rick Cruz, " In doubles, our teams were aggressive and did a good job of keeping it simple. Kalli and Riley were able to pick up a couple of singles wins which was great to see. Hopefully, we can build off of this as we head into next weekend's matches."

What Comes Next
The Bruins have the week to practice before they host Lewis and Clark in their first Northwest Conference match of the spring season. That match is set to start at 11:00 a.m. with a second match against the visiting Highline Community College at 3:00 p.m.
