NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's lacrosse team put on a clinic on Friday night at home, holding the Pacific Boxers to just eight shots on their way to a dominant 21-2 victory.
How It Happened
It took George Fox just over one minute to put a point on the scoreboard with a goal from
Lana Davis — a goal that set the tone for what would be an offensive masterclass. The Bruins went on a six goal run in the quarter on the back of scores from
Morgan Maxfield,
Carleigh DeLapp,
Olivia Geyling and
Marena Tharpe, dominating both possession and field position. Pacific managed to score with four minutes left in the quarter, but another goal from Davis sent them into the end of the period with all the momentum, 7-1.
The Bruins continued to dominate in the second quarter, moving the ball well as a team to notch four more goals. The Boxers converted their one shot on goal into a point late in the period, but Fox once again retaliated immediately. DeLapp and Davis both scored in the final two minutes of the half, sending the Bruins into halftime well ahead, 13-2.
Fox was even more lethal in the second half, holding Pacific to just two shots for the entire half, shutting them out entirely. Freshman
Claire Abraham scored her second goal of the season in the third period — with four different Fox players scoring to extend their lead, 17-2.Â
The final period was more of the same, with both Davis and Bluhm finding the net twice on the way to four more unanswered goals. The impressive display handed Fox their fifth straight win of the season, 21-2.Â
