GRANVILLE, Oh. – The George Fox Women's Lacrosse team was unable to continue a five game winning streak after a 22-5 loss to Denison puts them at 5-2 on the year.
How It Happened
The first quarter started off hot, with both teams exchanging goals with a minute or so of play. After a goal from Denison,
Carleigh DeLapp responded within a few seconds with a goal for the Bruins after an assist from
Marena Tharpe. Though the Bruins kept the pressure up throughout the quarter, they were unable to score again, heading into the second quarter down 8-1.
Denison kept up the pressure in the second quarter, extending their lead to 12-1 before a goal by
Marena Tharpe put the Bruins within 10. They were unable to score again before the half, putting them at a 14-2 deficit heading into the second half.
Tharpe continued her stellar play in the second half. Tharpe put the Bruins on the board first in the second half before scoring again at the end of the quarter, giving her three on the day, along with an assist.
The Bruins tacked on one final goal in the fourth quarter after
Ava Bluhm found the net after an assist from
Olivia Geyling. This would round out the Bruins offense for the day after a final score of 5-22 in favor of Denison.
Top Performers
Tharpe had a stellar day, recording three goals on four shots, as well as an assist. On defense, goalkeeper
Emma Webb recorded 11 saves on the day.
