HILTON HEAD, S.C.. – The George Fox women's tennis team continued their spring break trip in Hilton Head, South Carolina on Sunday. After a few days off, the Bruins lost to Grinnell College, 7-2.
How it Happened
In number one doubles,
Riley Bobkiewicz and
Kalli Wiker secured the win 8-4.
Shanah Denham and
Kylie Hull were not able to get the win at the number two spot, losing 8-3. The number three duo of
Arianna Rader and
Cassey Hitch lost their matchup, 8-2.
Kalli Wiker continued to play well as she entered singles play. Wicker won the first set 6-3, before finishing off the win with a 6-2 second set win.
Riley Bobkiewicz faced tough competition against the Pioneers number two singles player. Bobkiewicz lost the match, 6-0, 6-2.
Kylie Hull, in the number three spot, found herself in a back-and-forth match. Hull secured the first set win, 7-5. Hull lost set two, 6-3, before losing the third 10-8.
Elizabeth Cook, 6-1, 6-0,
Shanah Denham, 6-0, 6-2, and
Arianna Rader lost their matches, 6-2, 6-2.
What It Means
The Bruins are now 8-3, and Grinnell College improves to 15-2.
What Comes Next
The Bruins stay in South Carolina to play two more non-conference matches. They will have Monday off before they face the No. 37 Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks and the Oberlin College Yeowomen on Tuesday, March 26th.
