TACOMA, Wash., – The George Fox men's tennis team picked up a Northwest Conference win on Saturday afternoon. The Bruins swept all of the singles matches on their way to an 8-1 win.
How It Happened
Leading off in doubles,
Vahag Pashayan and
Nanase Ebisu took on the number one team from the Loggers. The two were unable to secure the win, losing, 8-6. In number two doubles,
Lars Schmassmann and
Eli Mizerski teamed up to grab a win, 8-6. The final team to compete was
Hunter Fujimori and
Zach Moore, the two picked up the second point for Fox after winning their match, 8-3.
In singles, George Fox not only swept all six matches but didn't let a Logger win a set. In number one singles, Vahag Pashyan picked up a win, 6-2, 7-6.
Hunter Fujimori found himself in a tight match, and he came out to win the first set, 6-4. Fujimori secured the win in the second set, winning, 7-5.
Alle Banna secured a victory in the number three singles, 6-1, 6-3.
Nanase Ebisu continued the Bruins dominance after clinching the number four spot, 6-1, 6-3.
Zach Moore overpowered Brayden Sawyer with a score of 6-2, 7-5. The momentum continued for George Fox when
Ikuho Ebisu secured a decisive 6-2, 6-0 win in the number six spot.
What's Next
The Bruins improve to 5-9, NWC (3-0), and the Loggers drop to 2-8 NWC (1-3) on the year. George Fox now has a week of rest weekend off before hosting their first home match in over a month. The Bruins will host the Whits on April 6th and 7th. The match against Whitman is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Mult-Use Facility.
