NEWBERG, Ore. – The George Fox women's tennis team secured second place in the Northwest Conference with their 9-0 win on Sunday against the Bearcats.
How it Happened
The Bruins kept their number one and two doubles teams the same as Saturday.
Kalli Wiker and
Riley Bobkiewicz teamed up to win 8-2.
Kylie Hull and
Cassey Hitch pulled away as the winner in the number two spot, 8-6. On court three, both
Sophie Denham and
Shanah Denham teamed up to win in convincing fashion, 8-2.
George Fox was able to win all of their singles matches in straight sets. In number one singles,
Kalli Wiker won 6-3, 6-1.
Riley Bobkiewicz won from the number two spot, 6-3, 6-2. On court three,
Kylie Hull won her match easily. Hull swept the first set, 6-0, before winning the second set, 6-1.
Elizabeth Cook beat Ruby Thompson 6-2, 6-1.
Arianna Rader also swept the first set, 6-0, and won the second set, 6-1.
Abigail Bond was the lone Bruin to sweep her opponent. Winning her match 6-0, 6-0.
What It Means
George Fox improves to 13-6, NWC (6-1), and the Bearcats drops to 3-13 (NWC 1-6). The Bruins will travel to Walla Walla, Washington next weekend when Withman hosts the Northwest Conference Tournament. Matches will begin on Saturday, times are TBA.
