FOREST GROVE, Ore. - George Fox took the Women's Lacrosse team to victory after beating the Boxers by 21 goals with a huge win, 24-3, and are staying undefeated in conference play, in addition to clinching the Northwest Conference regular season title.
How It Happened
At the very start of the first period, the Boxers made the first two goals, getting a jump-start lead. But not too long after,
Ava Bluhm made the first goal for the Bruins and just three minutes later,
Claire Abraham tied up the score 2-2. After that the Bruins made sure they were well ahead of the Boxers;
Marena Tharpe and
Olivia Geyling made the next two goals in the last five minutes of the period. Pacific tried to fight back after that but only scored one more goal. Geyling pushed the lead back to two with just over a minute to play in the period. Ending the period 5-3 with Fox in front.
Just over thirty seconds into the second quarter,
Lana Davis scored a goal. The Bruins continued to rack up the goals, a couple of minutes later, Tharpe scored her goal, and only eight seconds later,
Carleigh DeLapp scored. With only a few minutes to play in the half, DeLapp scored another goal. Up by eight goals,
Audrey White made it nine after scoring a goal for Fox. Now with less than five minutes left of the quarter, Bluhm scored a goal on a free position shot. With only two minutes left on the clock, DeLapp and Geyling scored the last two goals of the period, extending the lead to 15-3 at the half.
The Bruins continued to keep a large lead as
Morgan Maxfield and Tharpe scored the first two goals of the third quarter. DeLapp scored her fourth goal of the game with about seven minutes left, and three minutes later Abraham scored again. The Bruins scored one more goal by Maxfield to end the period—the score sitting at 20-3.
It took about four minutes of the last quarter for either team to score a goal, but Fox made their mark with Davis scoring the first two goals of the fourth period. Right after, Geyling scored a goal with under seven minutes left on the clock. Neither team would find the back of the net for a while after that, but in the last three seconds of the game,
Sasha Thayer scored the final goal of the game—24-3.

The Bruins remain at the top of the Northwest Conference with two games left. Additionally, with the win, the Bruins secured the NWC Conference title and are set to host the NWC tournament in two weeks. George Fox improves its standing to 12-3, 11-0 (NWC), and Pacific moves to 2-14, 0-12 NWC.
