Bruins Maintain Perfect NWC Run With Explosive Win Over Linfield

McMINNVILLE, Ore. - The George Fox women's lacrosse team put together a near-flawless performance in their road matchup against the Linfield Wildcats, cruising to a dominant victory in their penultimate regular season game of the year, 23-3.

How It Happened
The Bruins were electric from the opening whistle, immediately getting on the board with a goal from Carleigh DeLapp. Just 15 seconds later, Marena Tharpe scored her first goal of the evening, setting the tone for what would be a stunning offensive performance — by the end of the quarter, five different Bruins had scored while Fox held Linfield scoreless, 8-0.

This momentum continued into the second period as the Bruins allowed Linfield to take just five shots in the entire first half. The Wildcats did manage to score their lone goal of the half midway through the quarter, but the Bruins responded with a three-goal run of their own to head into halftime well ahead, 13-1.

Tharpe and Ava Bluhm were lethal coming into the third period, each scoring twice as the Bruins outshot Linfield, 10-2. The Wildcats managed to save four of Fox's eight shots on goal to limit some of the damage, but the Bruin defense allowed just one goal for the period — Fox headed into the final period with a 15 goal lead, 17-2.

Ana Flores scored her third goal of the 2024 season to open the final period, as the Bruins continued their impressive display down both ends of the field. Yet again, Fox held Linfield to a single shot and a single goal for the quarter, while Morgan Maxfield, Claire Abraham and Lana Davis put together a four goal run to end the game and give Fox the decisive victory, 23-3.

Top Performers
Marena Tharpe led the way for the Bruins with five goals on the night — her second highest goal total for a single game on the season. Ava Bluhm also continued to impress offensively, scoring four goals and recording two assists. Morgan Maxfield, Claire Abraham and Lana Davis each notched three goals in a game that saw eight different Bruins find the net.

What It Means
The Bruins remain undefeated in NWC play headed into their final game before the conference tournament. George Fox improved 13-3, (12-0 NWC), while Linfield fell to 5-9 (3-8 NWC).
