NEWBERG, Ore. – The George Fox men's tennis team won their second consecutive match of the weekend. They hosted the Whitman Blues at the Multi-Use Facility on Sunday, beating the Blues, 9-0, and giving the Blues their first conference loss of the season.
How It Happened
Once again the Bruins doubles teams stayed the same.
Vahag Pashayan and
Nanase Ebisu knocked off the Blues number one doubles team, 8-5. There was a tight battle on court two, with
Lars Schmassmann and
Eli Mizerski securing the win, 8-7.
Hunter Fujimori and
Zach Moore cruised past their opponents, 8-2.
Eli Mizerski led George Fox off in singles play, winning the first set easily 6-1, before winning set two 7-6.
Vahag Pashayan secured the win in the number two spot, 6-3, 6-2. On court three,
Hunter Fujimori won his match by a score of 6-4, 6-1.
Alle Banna swept Braeden Thomas in the first 6-0, then picked up the second set win, 6-1. In number five singles,
Nanase Ebisu secured the win 6-4, 6-2.
Jackson Whittaker won his matchup in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
What's Next
The Bruins improve to 7-9, (5-0 NWC), and the Pirates move to 8-12, (5-1 NWC) on the year. George Fox will head back out on the road to take on the Pacific Boxers on Saturday, April, 13th. The match is set to begin at 9:00 a.m.
