WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The George Fox women's tennis was on the road Sunday morning to take on the Whitman Blues, losing, 8-1. In a battle of the undefeated Northwest Conference opponents,
Riley Bobkiewicz picked up the lone singles win.
How it Happened
In doubles,
Kalli Wiker and
Riley Bobkiewicz,
Sophie Denham and
Kylie Hull, as well as
Arianna Rader and
Cassey Hitch, battled with the Blues. However, Whitman's duos secured victories with scores of 8-5, 8-2, 8-3.
The lone George Fox player to win their singles match was
Riley Bobkiewicz. Bobkiewicz picked up the first set win, 6-4, then lost the second set by the same score. She was able to win the tiebreaker 10-4.
Kylie Hull also found herself fighting for a win; she won the first set 6-2 and lost the second 6-4. Hull was just edged out in the tiebreaker, 11-9.
Kalli Wiker faced a tough challenge against Whitman's number one player, losing, 6-0, 6-2. In number four singles,
Elizabeth Cook had a close first set, losing, 6-4, before losing the second set, 6-0.
Arianna Rader took on Julia Longpre, losing, 6-2, 6-4. In number six singles,
Sophie Denham lost by a score of 6-0, 6-2.
What It Means
George Fox is now 11-6, NWC (4-1), and the Blues improve to 14-7 (NWC 6-0). The Bruins will travel home for Senior Day, where they will host the Pacific Boxers. The Northwest Conference matchup will begin at 10:00 a.m.
