WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The George Fox women's soccer team concluded their weekend at the Whits this afternoon with a close 1-0 loss against Whitman. 

How It Happened 
The Bruins began the first half fighting strong against the Blues — despite being outshot 8-1, Fox held the Blues to a 0-0 tie at the end of the first half of the game. However, in the 78th minute of the game, Whitman snuck a goal in to take the lead. The goal was assisted by Leah Barnes and scored by Bailey Bell. 

Overall, GFU held the Blues off for the majority of the game, despite being outshot 15-3 and having no corners in comparison to Whitman's five. Sophomore Emily Robey played a full 90 minutes and had five saves. 

Top Performers
Junior Alexis Breer had two shots for the Bruins. Willa Evans had one shot and played for 90 minutes. Sophomore Emily Robey had five saves and played the 90 minute duration of the game. The George Fox defense as a whole held down the fort for the Bruins, only allowing one goal in. 

What It Means 
The George Fox women's soccer team now holds a record of 3-2-1 heading into next week's games. The Whitman Blues have a standing record of 4-1-1.

George Fox heads home from their Washington showcase to their home turf, with their next game being played at Austin Sports Complex against Pacific; kickoff starts at 2:45pm on Saturday, September 28th.
