MONMOUTH, Ore. -- The George Fox cross country teams used the Mike Johnson Classic to give select runners invaluable racing experience and opportunity. Both the men's and women's teams performed well to each clinch third in their respective divisions.
Top Performances
Freshman
Jacob Shin was the top finisher for George Fox in the men's 8K race, clocking in at 26:40.03 on his way to a 26th place finish
Right on Shin's heels was Tommy Lewandowski, who finished just nine seconds off Shin's pace in 26:49.2, placing 27th.
Makai Peak followed closely with a time of 26:52.6, coming in 28th place. Meanwhile,
Isaac Davenport ran a solid race, crossing the line at 27:16.8 for his 31st place finish.Â
Rounding out the top five for the Bruins was
Jack Sclair, who finished in 27:20.9 to place 33rd. Other strong performances came from
Gavin Humphreys, who clocked 27:25.8 for 35th place and Max Chalpoutis, who posted a time of 27:54.9 for 38th.
Eli Krueger,
Ryker Belles, and
Caden Smith finished in the middle of the pack with times of 28:14.2, 28:35.4 and 28:50.2, respectively.
Simon King and
Jack Sandlin completed the race in 29:17.3 and 29:56.0
In the women's 6K it was
Jessie Bailey who led the Bruins with a strong performance – finishing in 17:52.3 and securing 18th place.
Marcella Leita followed closely, finishing in 17:57.9 to clinch 23rd place.
Allie Wilber finished in 18:26.5, earning 34th place, while
Marilyn Green crossed the line at 18:53.8, placing 39th, while
Reese Borchert and
Isabella Herboldt completed the race with times of 19:50.7 and 21:17.4, respectively.
Up Next
The Bruins will now travel to Terre Haute, Indiana, for the DIII National Preview. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. on Friday, October 4.
