Huttinger's Seven Saves Keeps the Bearcats Off the Scoresheet in 2-0 Win for the Bruins

SALEM, Ore. -- The George Fox men's soccer team finished their weekend with an additional 2-0 win over the Willamette Bearcats.

How It Happened
The Bruin men fought hard in today's aggressive match against the Bearcats, starting off in the first nine minutes with a yellow card on Fox. In the 24th minute, Willamette added another yellow card to the mix. Four minutes later Willamette fouled the Bruins in the 18-yard box, giving them a penalty kick. Junior, Eugene Peltier stepped up to the plate taking the shot and scoring the first goal for George Fox. The Bruins ended the first half with a 1-0 lead over the Bearcats.

George Fox continued their battle clear into the second half with Isaac Williams scoring the second goal for the Bruins in the 75th minute. Williams dribbled down the right-hand side of the field, taking a low shot into the left-hand side of the goal - giving Fox a 2-0 lead over Willamette. The Bearcats outshot the Bruins 22-12, but keeper Justin Huttinger just played better, having zero goals against and seven saves. The George Fox defensive line stood strong today maintaining a shutout.

Top Performers
Eugene Peltier and Isaac Williams both had two shots and one goal. Goalkeeper Justin Huttinger played the full 90 minutes, had zero goals against, and seven saves.

Coach's Thoughts
"The boys were fantastic, and we had to find a different way to win than yesterday," said Head Coach Paul Karver. "We are looking forward to going back to work this week as we prepare for another challenging weekend. The conference has more parity in it than ever before because each team has found a way to improve - we have to stay focused on the task at hand."

What It Means
George Fox heads home with their second win of the weekend giving them an overall record of 6-1-1 (2-1-1 NWC). The Willamette Bearcats now have a record of 1-4-3 (1-1-2 NWC) going into the remainder of their season. The Bruins are one win away from the program's most wins in a season since 2006, and they've only played eight games!

What Comes Next
The Bruins return to their home turf for their next conference game on Saturday, October 5th at 12pm to play the Pacific Lutheran Lutes.
