Fox Drops Second Straight Game With 2-0 Loss to Linfield

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – The George Fox women's soccer team was unable to overcome an early goal from Linfield, dropping a 2-0 game against the Wildcats.

How It Happened
Liv Haima started the day offensively for the Bruins after two early attacks from Linfield, attempting to find a hole in the lower left of the Wildcat goal but failing to find the back of the net. Morgan Phalen created an opportunity in the 24th minute in an effort to get George Fox on the board but missed high and right, leaving the score even. Continuing to put pressure on the Wildcat defense, Haima attacked again later in the period, sending a strong kick high to avoid the Linfield keeper but instead hitting the crossbar.

After seven attempts, the Wildcats found an opening in the lower left corner of the Bruin goal, putting Linfield in the driver's seat with a 1–0 lead at the end of the half. Marisa Lam recorded four saves out of eight total attempts in the period, keeping the Bruins within striking distance.

Haima made an effort to even the score right out of the gate with a goal-bound shot aimed for the lower left corner, but the Wildcat keeper rose to the challenge with a save. Linfield's offense retaliated with two back-to-back shots of their own, but Lam remained steady, making key saves to keep the score at 1–0. On a mission, Haima took another shot in the 52nd minute in an attempt to break through for the Bruins, but to no avail.

Linfield widened the gap in the 67th minute with a shot tapped into the lower right corner of the Bruin goal. Alexis Breer quickly took the initiative to try to close the growing 2–0 deficit but was denied by the Wildcat keeper. Lam recorded another save, working hard to keep Linfield's offense at bay.

In a last-minute scramble for control, Linfield attempted two more shots, but the Bruin defense held strong, preventing any further goals. The score remained 2–0 at the final buzzer.
