Willamette Takes Control in Salem, Hands Bruins Third Straight Loss in 3-0 Finish

SALEM, Ore. — The George Fox women's soccer team was unable to bounce back from their previous two losses, falling, 3-0, against the Willamette Bearcats.

How It Happened
The Bruins showed tenacity in the first fifteen minutes of their matchup against the Willamette Bearcats. Isabelle Carrington recorded the first shot of the night for the Bruins just five minutes in, but missed wide to the right of the goalpost. Fifteen minutes into the match, senior defender Alexis Breer produced a shot but found the hands of the Bearcat goalkeeper.

Three back-to-back Willamette shots put pressure on the George Fox defense, resulting in a 1–0 lead for the Bearcats in the 26th minute. Marisa Lam played damage control, stopping a goal-bound Willamette shot in the 41st minute to keep the score at 1–0.

Willamette did not let up in the second half, opening the period with another goal to raise the score to 2–0. Maci Bowman retaliated in the 76th minute with a hard shot that narrowly missed over the top of the woodwork. Willamette quickly responded with a third goal just five minutes later, putting the Bruins down 3–0 in the 83rd minute.

Eliza Kamphouse made an attempt in the final four minutes, but couldn't get George Fox on the board. Sarah Burkes took one last stand for the Bruins, closing out the shooting in the 86th minute, but couldn't narrow the gap for George Fox. At the final buzzer, the score remained 3–0, resulting in a Willamette victory.

Top Performances
Eliza Kamphouse, Alexis Breer, and Sarah Burkes each had one shot on goal, respectively. Maci Bowman and Isabelle Carrington also attempted shots for the Bruins. Marisa Lam collected three saves to help limit the Bearcat goals.
