Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. – Despite the George Fox women's soccer team scoring their first goal of conference play this season, they were unable to match the momentum of Puget Sound, losing, 4-1.
How It Happened
Liv Haima started the day off on offense for George Fox, taking an aggressive shot in the first five minutes of the game to set the tone for the Loggers.
Isabelle Carrington also attempted to put the Bruins on the board early, but just missed to the left of the woodwork. Carrington created another opportunity in the 17th minute, but a Puget Sound defender was there to block the shot.
In the 25th minute,
Alexis Breer drew a penalty kick due to a Puget Sound foul. Breer approached the kick and targeted the lower right corner for the Bruins' first goal in 10 games. This raised the score to 1-0 in favor of George Fox for the first time in conference play this season.
Bolstered, George Fox's offense came out aggressive, trying to create a crooked number on the scoreboard.
Alia Villa found an opening in the 26th minute, trying to tack on another goal for the Bruins, but couldn't find the back of the net. Carrington found another opportunity to shoot, but shot wide due to pressure from Logger defenders. Despite the Bruins putting pressure on the Puget Sound defense, the Loggers found an opportunity of their own, evening the score, 1-1, in the final minutes of the half.
Puget Sound made an effort to tighten up on defense, not allowing a single Bruin shot in the first portion of the second half. The Loggers came out with a vengeance, going on a ten-minute rampage that resulted in three more goals, raising the score to 4-1 in favor of Puget Sound.
UPS didn't give the Bruins many opportunities to match their momentum, allowing a lone shot in the second half. At the final buzzer, the scoreboard remained 4-1.

Alexis Breer was able to break the surface for George Fox, scoring the first goal in 10 games to help her team get on the board against Puget Sound.

Marisa Lam collected five saves throughout the game in an attempt to control the damage against the Loggers.
What It Means
The Bruins fall to 0-8-6 (0-7-4 NWC) on the season. Puget Sound advances to 7-2-4 (6-0-3 NWC) to remain undefeated in conference.
