NEWBERG, Ore. – The George Fox women's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Pacific Lutheran in a defensive battle with minimal scoring opportunities.
How It Happened
Despite being a game that tended to the defensive side, Pacific Lutheran tried to take an early lead with a shot in the first minute of play but was unsuccessful.
Liv Haima attempted to get the Bruins on the board with a shot that just missed high and right.
The Lutes managed to pull ahead with a goal in the 16th minute to put them up, 1-0, over the Bruins.
Alexis Breer retaliated with a competitive shot just three minutes later but found the hands of the Lute goalkeeper. Trying to even the score,
Isabelle Carrington took a shot in the 28th minute, but to no avail. Carrington took two more shots in the final five minutes of the half but couldn't equalize the scoreboard before the halftime buzzer.

Emily Robey collected two saves in the first half to keep the Lutes in range for the Bruins' offense, leaving the first half 1-0 in favor of Pacific Lutheran.
The Bruins struggled to create offensive opportunities at the beginning of the second half, but made up for it on defense.
Emily Robey collected four more saves throughout the half, working to keep the Lutes under control to give George Fox a chance to come back. The Bruins were not granted a single opportunity to shoot in the second period but were able to keep the Lutes to a one-point deficit, leaving the match 1-0 at the final buzzer.
