FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- The George Fox volleyball team locked in a 3-1 win against the Pacific Boxers, winning their final road game in an exhilerating four sets.
How It Happened
The first set started with strong kills by
Lexi Baer and
Jordan Hahn to give Fox an early lead, but the Boxers countered went on a ten point run, gaining a 5-12 lead.
Addison Goff had two kills with a service ace by
Mikaila Kronholm, closing the gap to a three-point deficit with a four-point run.Â
Pacific had a smaller run— but the Bruins stayed close behind. A
Jenna Knibbs kill had Fox down just three, 19-22. Hahn scored a kill, nearly tying the score at 22, but it wasn't enough—Pacific took the set, 23-25.
The Bruins started the second period with new intentions—they kept a leading spot throughout the majority of the set.
Allaire Gilder and Goff had back-to-back kills, putting Fox up, 4-2. Though the Boxers would come back and tie the score, and even took a brief lead, kills from Hahn and Goff tied the game—10-10.Â
Finally, the Bruins flew ahead, embarking on a five-point run that started with a kill by Gilder and ended with a kill from Goff, sending the Bruins ahead, 17-13. Fox stayed ahead the remainder of the frame as Hahn ended the set with two strong kills, winning the second set, 25-17.
Fox started strong again in the third set with
Gracie Bearden and Baer scoring consecutive kills. Pacific tied the game early at six, but GFU took over from there — going on a massive ten-point run, and taking a 16-7 lead, and Fox stayed ahead from there. Goff managed two kills in a row, the score shooting up to 22-14, while
Hannah Huffman and Bearden made kills to win the set, 25-16.Â
The fourth set would turn out to be the final — though it wasn't without its challenges. The set began strong with libero
Isabella Avila scoring the first kill. Goff totaled a kill to help Fox take a 7-3 lead, before Bearden and Gilder were back at it again with the consecutive kills. Though the Bruins seemed to be in control, the Boxers went on a seven-point run, tying the score and forcing a Fox timeout.
Baer helped the Bruins regain composure, keeping the Bruins ahead with a kill. While Goff's kill put the Bruins up two, 17-15. Pacific raced ahead with a 4-0 run. Bearden and Gilder tied the score at 19 with solid kills, before Kronholm scored an ace to put the Bruins within arm's reach of a victory, 23-20. Again, though, the Boxers gained control; With a four-point run, Pacific was one point away from forcing a fifth set, 23-24. Baer and Goff were there to save the Bruins, scoring the final kills, and ultimately winning the game on the fourth set, 26-24.
Top Performances
Addison Goff had her third career double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs, while Isaballe Avila totaled a career-high 21 digs.
Jordan Hahn scored eight kills overall, while
Gracie Bearden had six kills and 15 digs total.
Mikaila Kronholm led the team in both assists (19) and aces (3).
What It Means
George Fox advances to 7-14 (4-11 NWC) on the season. Pacific falls to 5-15 overall (2-13 NWC).Â

The Bruins will head to Newberg, Ore. to play against the Linfield Wildcats (7-12, 5-9 NWC) on Friday, November 7 for their final game, celebrating the seniors. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm.
