LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association announce its newest class of Coaches 4 Coaches Scholarship recipients, with the George Fox volleyball team's
Aiyana Henderson being named to the elite group.
Henderson, who joined the George Fox volleyball coaching staff for the 2025 season after one year at Linfield, was one of 16 coaches named to the class. These 16 coaches will be able to attend the AVCA Convention in Kansas City from December 17-21 thanks to the scholarship, which cover registration and hotel costs.
"Our committee had a lot of great discussions, and we really had a hard time choosing the final group of 2025 scholarship recipients," said Jaime Gordon, AVCA CEO and Coaches 4 Coaches Committee Chair. "Each year we say the applicant pool is great, but that was especially true this time, as we spent longer than ever pouring over the group to make decisions. We are confident that these 16 individuals can continue to expand the legacy for the Coaches 4 Coaches program."
Henderson was one of two West Coast coaches to earn the award alongside Feather River College's Carissa Chainey. A Spokane, Wash. native, she played both indoor and beach volleyball at Multnomah University, Corban University, and Los Angeles Harbor College. At Los Angeles Harbor College, she earned First Team All–South Coast Conference honors and ranked in the top five in eight conference statistical categories for indoor volleyball. At Corban University, she was part of the 2023 NAIA Beach Volleyball National Runner-Up team. The 2025 AVCA Convention will be her first.
"Aiyana is a natural, committed leader who excels in the practical application of coaching, showing a clear aptitude for running drills, providing focused feedback, and connecting with our athletes," Bruin head coach
Emily Davis said, "She consistently commits herself to learning and growing in every aspect of her journey, actively seeking out opportunities to refine her skills and integrate new coaching concepts. Her willingness to invest her time and passion regardless of the constraints highlight a rare level of commitment to her goal of making coaching a career."
The AVCA Convention is billed as "Volleyball's Most Comprehensive Learning & Networking Event of the Year", and features over 100 court, beach, and classroom education sessions, connect and network with other coaches, as well as the world's largest volleyball-specific exhibit show.
