FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- After missing the first day of racing due to inclement weather, the George Fox Bruins' swim teams began their NWC Championship racing, competing in several preliminary events. At the end of the day, both the men's and women's teams sit in seventh place, poised for a surge up the leader board in the second half of the meet.
Top Performances
Fox opened the meet with the women's 500 yard freestyle, where
Jesse Urback was the top finisher for Fox, taking home sixth in 5:17.91.
Laurel Knox and
Kaylee Dicey also competed in the final, finishing in 11th and 13th, respectively.
On the men's side
Micah Hugo was the best performer, coming in 15th with his mark of 5:01.20.
In the women's 200 yard individual medley
Claire Harmon led the way with her time of 2:15.91; good enough for 11th place.
Wyatt Greene was Fox's lone competitor in the individual medley final for the men, finishing 16th after racing a time of 2:03.20.
Cameron Alexander had a solid race in the men's 50 yard freestyle, clocking in at 21.54 to place seventh.
Today's racing was closed out with the 400 yard medley relay races. On the women's side, Zoey Stapelton,
Riley Parker,
Ellie Hoover and
Mia Smith finished ninth with a time of 4:12.93. In the men's event, Fox's team of
Aries Valenzuela,
Strom Nordeng,
Cameron Alexander and
August Maberry placed seventh in 3:36.46.
What Comes Next
The Bruins will look to work their way up the leader board when racing resumes tomorrow for the third day of the NWC Championship weekend. The first heats are scheduled to get underway at 9:30 a.m.
