Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. -- George Fox rallies past Puget Sound with several quality set wins, taking down the Loggers 5-2.
How it Happened
The Bruins played well overall on the day, battling through injury and winning their second conference event of the year.
They started their day with doubles matches, with
Lars Schmassmann and
Ikuho Ebisu teaming up to win 6-4 against the Logger's No. 1 doubles team.
Jackson Whittaker and
Zach Moore secured the doubles point after a dominant 6-2 victory, giving the Bruins the early 1-0 lead. The final doubles match was a wild one, with
Keita Shoji and
Joseph Vece taking the Loggers to a 7-6 tiebreaker set. They ultimately fell 9-7 in the set, but battled hard and nearly pulled out the victory.
In the singles matches, Schmassman kicked things off for the Bruins, defeating UPS No. 1 Jason Rowe 6-3, 6-2. The Loggers evened it up after the No. 2 singles match as Moore went down with an injury. Will Church won by withdrawal after an intense 6-2, 3-6 battle in the first two sets. Ebisu put the Bruins back on top as he secured his victory 6-3, 6-1, and Shoji added another win 6-0, 6-2 to secure the match for the Bruins.
Whittaker and Vece rounded things out for Fox as the afternoon wore on. Whittaker continued his dominant play, winning 6-0, 6-0 against Tyler Blixt in the No. 5 spot. Vece played well but ultimately fell 6-2, 6-2 as the Loggers added an extra point to their total.

The Bruins stay at home tomorrow, February 23rd as they take on the Lewis and Clark Pioneers. The action begins at 11:00 am and will be streamed live on the Bruins Sports Network.
