NEWBERG, Ore. -- The Bruins make quick work of the Bearcats, winning 7-0 to remain one game back of first place in the Northwest Conference.
How it Happened
The Bruins came out firing, winning their doubles matches a combined 18-3.
Lars Schmassmann and
Ikuho Ebisu played in the most competitive doubles match, winning 6-3 in the No.1 doubles spot. The other duos brought out the brooms as they swept Willamette to win the doubles point.
Zach Moore and
Keita Shoji paired to win 6-0, while
Jackson Whittaker and
Luis Hernandez cleaned things up – 6-0.
The singles matches were smooth sailing for the Bruins as well, with all six matches going the Bruins' way. Schmassmann continued his tenure in the No. 1 singles spot for the Bruins, winning 6-0, 6-2 to finish his day undefeated. Moore and Ebisu played identical matches to secure the match, both winning 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 and No. 3 singles spots. Shoji did one better, winning 6-1, 6-0, while Whittaker took the cake with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Willamette's Luca Casano.
Joseph Vece secured his first win of the season in the No. 6 spot today, winning 6-2, 7(10) - 6(3) to round things out for the Bruins.
