SALEM, Ore. -- The Bruins cruise to a 7-0 victory against Willamette today, winning all nine matches in their last road trip of the year.
How It Happened
The Bruins got off to a quick start in the doubles matches, with
Zach Moore and
Jackson Whittaker teaming up for a 6-0 win in the No. 2 spot.
Luis Hernandez and
Ikuho Ebisu followed up shortly after, winning 6-1 to secure the doubles point. The most intense match of the day came in a back-and-forth battle in the No. 1 doubles spot.
Lars Schmassmann and
Keita Shoji got it done in twelve games, winning 7-5 to complete the doubles sweep.
The singles matches were a breeze for the Bruins, winning three of the matches 6-0, 6-0. Schmassmann, coming off his 100th career victory this past weekend, was one of the Bruins to win 6-0, 6-0, winning easily after his tight doubles match. Shoji and Whittaker wrapped up the match sweeps in the three and four spots, securing the fourth necessary point to secure the match win.
The other three matches only needed two sets to complete, as Moore, Hernandez, and
Joseph Vece all won their singles matches. Moore won 6-3, 6-1 in the two spot, Hernandez won 6-1, 6-0 in the five spot, and Vece won 6-1, 6-4 in the six.
What Happens Next
The Bruins head home for senior day tomorrow, April 13th, at the Multi-Use Facility. The Match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am.
