NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Bruins advance to the STUNT National Semi-Finals after a dominant 13-1 victory over No. 4 Saint Mary's (Ind.).
How It Happened
The Bruins managed to get off to a hot start, securing a point after a stellar first routine. They maintained that 1-0 lead into the first quarter break after calling a routine that St. Mary's didn't have. In the second quarter, they went a perfect 2-0, winning both of the points and taking a 3-0 lead into halftime.
The Belles scored their first and only point coming out of halftime on a split decision, making the score 4-1. From then on, it was all Bruins, sweeping the next routine and making it 7-1 heading into the fourth quarter. Coming out of the quarter break, the Bruins stayed hot, scoring all three possible points and making it 10-1. This forced a St. Mary's timeout and all but secured the victory. They closed it out with another perfect routine, securing three points and beating the Belles 13-1.
What Happens Next
The Bruins have officially moved on in the winner's bracket and will face Muskingum University tomorrow, April 25th, at 8:30 am CST. If they win their match tomorrow, they will secure a spot in the National Championship game. If they lose, they still have a shot due to the double-elimination format of the tournament.
