NEWBERG, Ore. -- An exciting new era of George Fox football begins on September 6, 2025 as the Bruins announced their 2025 football schedule.
The Bruins will kick off their season in California facing Redlands — the second consecutive season that GFU will travel to the Bulldogs. But in 2024, the Bruins, who won the game against Redlands in a 17-3 Sunday matinee, were coached by Pacific Northwest football legend Chris Casey. Following
Casey's retirement,
Spencer Crace,
the second coach in Bruin football's modern era, will lead the charge in 2025.
"Our guys are hungry to compete," Crace said, "I am excited to see this team go into the fall, focus on playing our brand of football, and execute in all three phases."
Crace, who comes to George Fox after seven seasons at Pacific Lutheran, will end the season in Tacoma against the Lutes on November 15. Between the introduction against Redlands and the reunion against PLU, Fox will have eight solid games to round out the 10-game schedule.
In a rare scheduling quirk, the Bruins will be facing the same nine teams as they did in 2024, though with some dates and locations switched. Following the game at Redlands, the Bruins will compete in their third Oregon Cup game in program history against Lewis & Clark. Fox has gone 2-0 (14-9 win over Pacific, 37-14 win over Willamette) in the nonconference Cup games, and will look to make it 3-0 against the Pios on September 13.
The first home game of the season will come at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, as the Bruins welcome Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to Newberg for the second straight season. Following the game against the Stags, GFU will have a bye week to prepare for conference play.
NWC games will begin with homecoming on October 4 as Fox welcomes Linfield to town. The game, as with every other conference home game in 2025, is scheduled for 1:30 pm. The matchup against the Wildcats starts a home stretch for GFU, who will play four home games in six weeks.Â
Other home games on the schedule include October 18 against Lewis & Clark — the game counting towards conference standings — Family Weekend against Puget Sound on October 25, and Senior Day festivities versus Pacific on November 8. October 11 at Whitworth and November 1 at Willamette are the only two away games in that stretch. The Bruins will round out the season on the aforementioned November 15 game at Pacific Lutheran.
Crace and the new football staff are hungry and ready as ever to show that George Fox is still the same team to beat in the Pacific Northwest that Coach Chris Casey had built. And the city of Newberg is ready to embrace the next era of George Fox football.
Be there on September 20 at 1:00 p.m. to see it all unfold.
