LA VERNE, Calif. -- The George Fox women's soccer team ended their road trip to California with a hard-fought 0-0 tie against the La Verne Leopards, picking up their first points of the season.
How It Happened
In the start of the first half, the Bruins started off with a long pass down the field, and then blocked the first throw-in of the game in strong defense. Sophomore
Lindsey Kong had the first attempt of the day with a low center shot in the ninth minute, but just missed. Fox then got a free kick, but it was taken over by La Verne — who then drove down the field, attempting a shot; freshman
Marisa Lam blocked the ball to keep the game scoreless.
Roughly 30 minutes in, the Bruins rose to the challenge and had multiple attempted shots, the first one by
Alexis Breer. The senior's shot sailed high right, and freshman
Sarah Burkes' shot was no better, also missing high right. At the end of the half, the game remained scoreless
The second half was difficult for each team to make any leeway. The Leopards dominated the possession, outshooting the Bruins 8-0 in the period, but the Bruin back line made sure each shot was difficult.
Emily Robey played the second half in goal, and recorded two saves to keep the game knotted, 0-0, as the game concluded in Fox's first tie of the season
