Fox Shows Speed in Solid Day at PLU

TACOMA, Wash. -- The George Fox Cross Country teams made a powerful comeback from last month, finishing in first place for both Men and Women with a score of 38 for the Women's team, and a 53 for the Men's.

Top Performances
Emily Foote started Fox off, finishing in second place overall in the Women's 6K with a time of 21:50.5 minutes. Following close behind was Breanna Schmitt—the senior had a time of 22:31.5 in fourth place, keeping in the top five. 

Hope Bridge made the top ten at 23:04.9 in eighth place, keeping Fox in high rankings, and with a time of 23:18.9 was Chloe Cook in 12th place. Freshman Natalie Oathout placed 16th at 23:44.6, while Cella Leita came in 18th with a time of 23:47.5, tying with a Whitworth runner. 

Then, a set of three Bruins in a row crossed the finish line—in 21st place was Lola Woodburn with a 23:50.8 time, Marylin Green in 22nd at 23:52.9, and Sara Marino in 23rd with a time of 23:53.7. 

For the Men's 8K, Caden Hildenbrand was the first Bruin to cross the finish line—in sixth place overall and a time of 25:47.1. Another set of three came in for Fox with Benjamin Moore, Ryan Lippert, and Kellen Ruiz. Moore placed in 10th (25:59.1), Lippert in 11th (26:00.2), and Ruiz 12th (26:03.0). 

With a 26:16.8 time, sophomore Nate Hamilton finished in 14th place, while Isaac Montanes trailed close behind in 17th at 26:24.4. The men made most of their team in the top 20, ranking high for the day, likewise for the women.

The Bruins come back next month to race in Bethlehem, Penn. for the Paul Short Run at the Lehigh XC Course. The day is scheduled to start at 9:15 am on Friday, October 3.
