HILLSBORO, Ore. -- The Northwest Conference office announced its Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of September 16th through September 22nd, with three Bruins being named to the weekly honor roll.

Jacob Erickson had one of the best games in George Fox football history, recording a program-record five sacks in a dominant effort for the Bruins against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The defensive end led the team with a career-high 11 tackles, six of which were for a loss. Erickson was a force to be reckoned with all day, finishing with one forced fumble and three QB hurries to go along with his program-record number of sacks. The senior recorded six tackles and three sacks in the fourth quarter alone; his sacks mark is the most in NCAA Division III this season and the most by a Northwest Conference player in over 20 years.

Emily Foote was the top runner from the Northwest Conference at the PLU Invite over the weekend. Her time of 21:50.5 was 41 seconds faster than her nearest NWC competitor and put her 6th all time on the George Fox record board and second overall at the meet.

In a field full of nationally-ranked contenders in the Fall National Preview, Katelyn Lam was the top-finishing player for the Bruins. Lam shot a 77 (+5) in the first round and a 75 (+3) in the second, notching three birdies on her final day to finish 36th overall with a total score of 152 (+8).

Erickson and the GFU football team will have a week off before starting conference play on October 4 against Linfield, while Foote and the cross country team are off to Pennsylvania for the Paul Short Run. Lam and the women's golf team, meanwhile, are competing at the Saint Martin's Invite. All three Bruins will look to replicate their performances.
