87th-Minute Score Deals Bruins Third Straight Loss

PORTLAND, Ore. -- In a game that featured a heartbreaking 87th-minute goal, the George Fox women's soccer team fell to Lewis & Clark, 1-0, to drop their third straight game.

How It Happened
The Bruins were aggressive right out of the gate, setting the tone with a nine-shot first half. Lindsey Kong took a shot in the seventh minute, followed by a relentless second shot by Liv Haima just under a minute later. Neither could find the back of the net, but made it known they were hungry for an early goal. Alexis Breer also wanted in on the action, taking a shot in the 18th minute that missed to the left.

Haima attempted another shot, followed by Isabelle Carrington joining the fray to record a shot shortly after. A mere minute later, Makena Speer also recorded a shot, but missed high. This was followed by a shot from Isabella Hector and another shot from Carrington. Haima remained merciless, taking one more shot to close out the attempts for George Fox in the 38th minute.

The Bruins outshot the Pios, 9-2, but were unable to tip the score in their favor before the halftime buzzer.

Emily Robey played the full 90 minutes for Fox in goal and recorded a save early in the second half to keep the score even. The game slowed for the next 20 minutes, though Carrington and Haima once again took hasty shots within seconds of each other. In the final three minutes of play, the Pios' Iris Stutzman produced a bending shot that grazed the crossbar, just finding the top left corner of the goal to break Bruin hearts.

George Fox was unable to match the last-minute goal, falling to five straight games without a goal and losing to Lewis & Clark for the first time since 2021, 1-0.

Top Performances
Liv Haima led the Bruins in shots with a total of four. Makena Speer and Isabelle Carrington each attempted two, respectively. Lindsey Kong attempted one shot for the Bruins. Emily Robey recorded three saves to help keep the score even for the majority of the game.
