Fox Starts Saint Mary's Tournament Strong With Two Wins

2/13/2026 6:02:00 PM

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The George Fox STUNT team traveled cross-country for their second tournament of the season, facing several Division III teams in the Valentine's Day Crossroads Rumble.

How It Happened
Fox's first game of the three-day, six-game tournament was host Saint Mary's — a familiar foe for the No. 1-ranked Bruins. The Belles, the No. 4 team in the country per the official STUNT rankings, faced Fox twice in the Bruins' 2025 championships season: once in the regular season at the inaugural Pacific Northwest Open, and once in the opening round of the Division III Tournament. GFU won both games, 5-4 at home and 13-1 in the tournament.

Fortunately for the Bruins, the third matchup between the two teams mirrored the second; Fox scored the first three partner stunts of the first quarter to take a 3-0 lead. That lead expanded to seven as Fox swept the pyramids and tosses section in the second, blanking the Belles and making the lead 7-0.

Though Saint Mary's scored the first points of the third quarter, Fox eked out a win on the next point, taking a 9-2 lead thanks to the new "within two" rule — if a routine comes to within two faults, the team that wins the routine gets two points while the losing team gets one. That same situation appeared to end the quarter, with Fox on the plus side again; the Bruins took an 11-4 lead into the fourth. The situation happened twice in the second performance of the fourth, as GFU won the point by a massive score of 5-2. That helped give Fox the boost they needed as they downed Saint Mary's, 20-10

The next game for Fox saw the Bruins take on Maryville College, a team competing in their first season of STUNT. Playing in an eight-count game (half the length of a normal STUNT game), Fox made quick work of the Scots, capturing every available point in a 12-0 victory.
