NEWBERG, Ore. -- The George Fox baseball team ended their weekend series in a 2-2 split after falling to the Centenary Gents in the final game, 6-2.
How It Happened
The game began with a pitcher's duel between Gents starter Roman Ardoin and Bruin ace
Michael Singleton. For the next four innings, both teams went back-and-forth, staying scoreless until the Gents got on the board after scoring four runs in the top of the fifth.
It didn't take long for the Bruins to end their own offensive drought with a two-out rally, though;
Kaden Oshiro started things off with good discipline at the plate that awarded him a walk. With a single to center field from freshmen
Joey Marasco, Oshiro advanced to scoring position at third. While
Jayson Au Hoy was hit by a pitch, it was enough to load the bases for
Garrett Strube; all it took was a hard hit single from Strube to score Oshiro as well as Marasco to cut the difference in half, 4-2.
Once again the game became focused on defense as both teams struggled to find gaps in the field. The Bruins' bats continued to connect, but they were unable to produce any runs despite their persistence. It took until the ninth inning before any more runs were scored as Centenary was able to get past GFU's defense to score two more runs with some well-placed hits and a wild pitch; the Gents ended the series after taking game four, 6-2.
Top Performances
On the offensive side,
