NEWBERG, Ore. -- Fox closed their weekend with a tightly contested matchup versus Pacific University, eventually losing to the Boxers, 4-3. With today's loss, the Bruins fall to 3-5 overall and 3-4 in the Northwest Conference.

How it Happened
Fox came into today's match having lost its last two matches versus Pacific and was gearing up to put a stop to a third straight win for the Boxers, nearly succeeding.

Riley Bobkiewicz and Juhree Kizziar looked dead in the eye with the No. 20 doubles ITA DIII squad in the nation, Chloe Takahashi & Stella Nishimura. The Bruins attempted to stand their ground but were ultimately defeated, 6–0, in the first game of the day on Court No. 1.

The second finished game of the doubles matches fell in the laps of Nicole Schnurbusch & Audrey Gardner, who tied the score early, 1-1, before their opponents pulled away 6–1 to steal the doubles point for the Boxers on Court No. 3.

On Court No. 2, Sophie Denham and Shanah Denham teamed up against Tiara Yeung and Henleigh Elder, taking down the Boxers' duo 6–3. The Bruin duo rallied back from being down 3-1 and blazed through five straight games to prevent the full sweep, ending 6-3.

Singles showcased solid duels for both teams and gave the Bruins a chance at recovering from their doubles matches.

Sh. Denham took home two games combined for the first finish of the singles sets. She fell 6–1, 6–1 between both frames despite a strong presence on the court.

On Court No. 1, Bobkiewicz took on one half of her former doubles opponents in Takahashi. The junior smashed her opponent, going from being tied 2-2 in set one to winning 6–2 before taking set two 6–1, giving Fox its first point of the day.

Momentum started building for the Bruins after Schnurbusch took the lead and never looked back on Court No. 6, defeating her challenger in set one, 6–3, and set two, 6–2, never giving up the lead between both sets.

Pacific wouldn't go down without a fight and answered back on Court No. 5. Gardner charged back from being down 3-1 and tacked on two more game wins to make it 5-3 before losing 6-3 in set one. She set the tone early in set two by going up 2-0 before her foe secured set two 6-2, which pushed Pacific ahead on the day, 3-2, heading into the No. 3 matchup for So. Denham.

The senior started from behind, narrowly losing set one, 7-5, and followed with a stellar comeback in set two, winning 6-3, and taking home set three with a gritty 7-5 win after being down 5-3 earlier in the final set.

The deciding match featured Kizziar and Pacific's No. 4 competitor, Mia Yamaguchi. Kizziar started down 3-0 and rallied back with two game wins to make the score 3-2. Yamaguchi took control the rest of set one to take a 6-2 victory. In the second set, the Bruins nearly extended their chances, going up 5-2, but ended up giving the Pacific Boxers the final point needed to win the day after a 7-5 loss in set two.

What Happens Next
The Bruins will face off against the Lewis & Clark River Otters at home for their next match on March 14 at 11:00 a.m. and take down the Otters to build momentum before heading to Orlando, Fla., for their Spring Break Tournament.
