Fox Wins Series Over Otts With 7-4 Win

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The George Fox baseball team logged another win in their final game against Lewis & Clark—claiming a 7-4 victory to take the series over the Otts.

How It Happened
In the top of the first inning, Fox had a strong start when Garrett Strube singled to right field; then, Adam Fulton singled to shortstop, scoring Strube and moving Evan Balingit and Brennan Bates into scoring position while loading the bases. Immediately following, Declan Corrigan was  hit by pitch, scoring Balingit to put GFU up, 2-0. The Bruins stayed in the lead, carrying that energy into the third inning, where Strube stole second, and Jayson Au Hoy scored on a throwing error as the Bruins smartly forced the error with solid base running..

Fox was still up 3-0, until the River Otters homered to left field to score two and get back into the game, 3-2, in the second inning.

Then, in the top of fourth, Corrigan doubled to right center field, and scored a run later on, doubling the Ottos' score 4-2. Later on in the top of fifth, Marasco doubled to left field, and Au Hoy scored, paving the way to a hopeful victory.

Corrigan singled again in the top of seventh—Dylon Poulin hit his first career home run to left center to score both him and Corrigan, making the score 7-2. However, Lewis & Clark scored two runs in the bottom of seventh, attempting to catch up at 7-4. The final score ended up staying the same, locking in a win for the Bruins as Andrew Miller threw a perfect final three innings, allowing just one hit.

Top Performances
Declan Corrgian scored two runs, two hits and one RBI, while Jayson Au Hoy scored two runs and four hits total. Then, Garrett Strube and Evan Balingit scored one run and one hit each, and Dylan Poulin had the same, gathering two RBI. On the mound, Aidan Rady took the win for pitching, while Andrew Miller struck out three and allowed just one hit in three innings.

Coach's Thoughts
