Nine Bruins Score in Dominant 23-3 Win Over Pacific Lutheran

TACOMA, Wash. -- The George Fox women's lacrosse team posted another dominant 20-goal win, downing the Pacific Lutheran Lutes, 23-3.

How It Happened
The Bruins unleashed another 20-goal game for the fifth time this season, registered by nine different players for Fox. Ava Bluhm started the action with a quick draw control before Sasha Thayer was the first to get on the board with a solo goal to set the tone for. Fox would go on to score their highest-scoring quarter in the first, and would take an 8-0 lead into the second.

Davis continued the goal trend for Fox by scoring at the 11:55 mark in the second thanks to an assist from Claire Abraham in the offensive end. Merrick Gibson, meanwhile, decided to go for the hat trick only moments later to put the Bruins up 4-0. Thayer scored the next goal for the Bruins after a dish from Alli Stilp. Next, the all-time leading goal scorer for the Bruins chimed in by delivering a goal with a little over six minutes remaining in the first, off an assist from Davis.

Davis continued her giving mood with another assist, this time to midfielder Abraham, who scored thanks to the preceding ground ball from defender Jasmine Uresti, who turned on the jets after securing the turnover from Pacific Lutheran. Finishing off the quarter, Bluhm capitalized on another turnover by the Lutes, scooping the ground ball and allowing Stilp to secure the eighth unanswered goal, which was unassisted, heading into the next period.

PLU controlled slightly more possession in the second period but couldn't find the back of the net as the Bruins stacked on five more goals. Davis recorded her third assist of the game following a free-position attempt, giving Abraham her second goal of the game. Shortly after scoring, Abraham also secured the draw control, setting up the path for a score from Gibson, who helped the running clock begin with the Bruins' tenth goal of the game. Alli Stilp would score the final goal of the half thanks to Davis as the final goals of the half, ending in a score of 13-0.

After a solid performance in goal from freshman Kat Ellett, who did not allow a goal in the first half, Gabrielle McClung took over in the second. The Bruins kept their composure despite PLU securing their first goal of the game off a free-position shot in the 11th minute of the third quarter. Thayer responded with a goal assisted by senior attacker Audrey White. Davis grabbed the draw control and went full steam ahead for an unassisted goal to bring the score to 15-1. Close to two minutes later, Stilp added a goal of her own off another free-position shot following a foul on Pacific Lutheran.

PLU answered with their second goal with over five minutes remaining to bring the score to 16-2, winning the following draw control. Freshman Callie Olson then scored her third career goal, assisted by Ava Bluhm, as the Bruins took a 23-3 lead into the fourth.

Less than 30 seconds into the fourth, Bluhm put the 18th goal in the net, receiving the assist from Davis, who won the draw control and had her shot saved moments earlier. Davis persisted with her shots and eventually scored at the 10:37 mark off an assist from Abraham.

White gave the Bruins their 20th goal of the game with a little over eight minutes remaining. Fox held the majority of possession for the next four minutes before Jenna Clark tacked on another goal, assisted by Davis, to bring the score to 21-3. Bluhm scored at the 2:24 mark thanks to yet another assist from Davis. Davis finished her flurry of assists with seconds remaining on the clock, which gave Thayer her fourth goal of the game, ending in a 23-3 victory for Fox.
