HILLSBORO, Ore. – The Northwest Conference office announced its Student-Athletes of the Week for March 31–April 6, with
Sami Stadtlander and
Lana Davis earning the weekly honors.
Stadtlander posted impressive numbers against Pacific Lutheran on Friday. In the first two games of the series for the Bruins against the Lutes, the junior registered four hits, three home runs, and seven RBIs in just five at-bats, helping the Bruins defeat PLU in Game Two, 13-5, in five innings. In the win, Stadtlander hit a four-run homer in the second to extend the lead for Fox and help split Day 1. Along with her at-bats, Stadtlander recorded four putouts in five chances between both games.
Davis played a monumental role in major conference games this past weekend. Davis started her dominant performance with four goals and four assists in a narrow 13-12 win against Whitman, contributing five draw controls and three ground balls while scoring her goals on just five shots, all of which were on goal.
On Saturday, the senior midfielder added three goals and three assists in a 15-12 win for the Bruins, despite trailing at halftime against the Pirates. Along with her scoring, the senior recorded five ground balls and eight crucial draw controls that contributed to the comeback. Between both games, Davis also forced seven caused turnovers.
Stadtlander and the softball team will play their rescheduled series against Whitworth in Spokane, Wash., starting Wednesday, April 8. The first game is scheduled to begin at noon. Meanwhile, Davis and the lacrosse team will head to Forest Grove, Ore., to face off against the Pacific Boxers, with the game set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
