Gabe Haberly

Gabe Haberly has re-joined the George Fox football staff for a second stint in 2025 as the director of speed and explosiveness.

Haberly served as the wide receivers coach for the George Fox football team from 2013 to 2019, where he coached six NWC All-Conference players. Haberly also coached wide receivers at Linfield University 2009 to 2012, with eight players earning NWC All-Conference honors. The Wildcats won NWC titles all four seasons, advancing to the NCAA semifinals in 2009 and the quarterfinals in 2012. While at Linfield, Haberly coached the pole vault, javelin, and multi-events for two seasons. In the pole vault, he coached one NWC champion, one NCAA national champion, and two NCAA All-Americans.

Haberly has had a distinguished track and field coaching career at George Fox. His athletes helped the Bruins win the NCAA Division III women's outdoor national championship team title in 2018, as well as eight consecutive Northwest Conference men and women’s track and field crowns. Individually, Haberly has coached 33 NWC champions, 15 NCAA All-Americans, 4 NCAA national champions, and Seth Nonnenmacher at the 2018 USATF National Championships in the javelin. Additionally, Haberly has coached athletes to 4 indoor school records and 6 outdoor school records. Haberly has been named the USTFCCA West Region Outdoor Men's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018, National Outdoor Men's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2018, West Region Indoor Women's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2020, and West Region Outdoor Women's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2022.

Haberly also taught advanced mathematics at Sheridan High School from 2009-11 and was the head coach of the track and field program there in 2010, coaching nine All-State athletes, a state runner-up in the triple jump, and two state champions in the 100-meter dash and the javelin.

A graduate of Siuslaw High School in Florence, Oregon, Haberly earned three letters as a quarterback and defensive back at Linfield University, helping the Wildcats win a Northwest Conference title and advance to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals in 2005. 

He holds a doctorate of physical therapy from George Fox University (2025), a Ph.D. in biophysical kinesiology from Oregon State University (2021), a master’s degree in exercise and sport science from Oregon State University (2013), and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Linfield University (2009).

In addition to his coaching duties at George Fox, Haberly is an assistant professor in the department of physical therapy. He lives in Newberg with his wife, Janelle, daughter, Elora, and black lab, Maggie. They attend Red Hills Church in Newberg.
