Rudy Hughes joined the coaching staff in 2021 as an assistant coach working with the Bruin tight ends. Beginning in 2022, Hughes now serves as the position coach for the Bruins' safeties - traditionally a program strength - and is also their academic success coordinator.

Hughes was a 2018 graduate of George Fox and started all four years of his Bruin career,. He developed into an All-NWC safety by his senior year, earning the IKE Leadership Award. Hughes graduated in 2019, spent one year coaching at his high school alma mater, West Linn, and returned to George Fox one year later.

When asked about his coaching philosophy, Hughes looks to "help young men grow and become the best versions of themselves, as well as to help them grow and become the best football players they can be."
