Box Score 2 TACOMA, Wash. – With
George Fox University winning the first game 6-0 and the University
of Puget Sound taking the second game 4-3 with a
last-of-the-seventh rally, both the Bruins and the Loggers picked
up their first Northwest Conference softball victories of the
season with a doubleheader split Friday afternoon here at East
Field.
In the first game, Erin Hento (5-3) earned the complete-game win
for the Bruins, allowing just four hits and fanning seven.
Jennifer Davis (0-1) took her first career start for the
Loggers and tossed 4.2 innings, allowing six hits and one earned
run while striking out three, before Aryn Grause finished up.
The Bruins took the lead with a pair of runs in the third as
Nicole Renteria reached on an error and eventually scored on
Kerrianne Davidson's forceout grounder, followed by Kayla
Ward's single that scored Kris Trindle. They broke the
game open in the fourth when Kahlee Barrio doubled in
Felicia Chavez and Bethany Chriss stoked a two-run
single. Their final run came in the fifth on a sacrifice fly
by Renteria that scored Hilary Broadus.
Chavez was the only player in the game with multiple hits, going
3-for-4.
In the nightcap, the Bruins scored all their runs in the fourth
to take a 3-1 lead. Davidson doubled in Trindle, who had
singled, to tie the game 1-1, Shelby Briske was hit by a pitch to
force in Chriss with the go-ahead run, and Chavez came through with
another RBI single to score Davidson.
After scoring just one run through the first 13 innings, the
Loggers finally broke through in the seventh to pull out the
win. Carolyn Moore led off with a single to left, Grause
looped a single to center, and Chrissy Atterson singled to load the
bases. Christina Demuelenaere poked a one-out single up the
middle to drive in two and tie the game 3-3. Anthea Aasen then
grounded a single to right to score pinch-runner Megan Janes with
the game-winner.
Auriel Sperberg (1-5) earned the complete-game win, tallying
nine strikeouts and allowing five hits. Hento (5-4) took the loss
in relief of Bruin starter Allyssa DenDekker.
Atterson and Demuelenaere each had two hits for the Loggers,
while Davidson had a pair of safeties for the Bruins.

Willamette University Saturday and Sunday, with doubleheaders each
day starting at 12:00 noon ... Puget Sound (1-9, NWC 1-5)
entertains Pacific University Saturday at noon.
