Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. – It took
over a month to do it, but the George Fox University Bruins and the
Lewis & Clark College Pioneers finally completed the second
game of a doubleheader that was started on March 10, with the Pios
edging the visiting Bruins 1-0 in Northwest Conference softball
action Thursday afternoon here at the Huston Sports Complex.
The game had been halted due to bad weather with no score and
the home team batting in the bottom of the 1st. When play was
resumed, the Pios picked up the only run of the game in the 3rd
when Jet'aime Mullins singled to center, Kelsey Buck
sacrificed, and Taylor Gatti doubled down the left-field line.
Natalie Rose (2-12) went the distance for the Pios, scattering
six hits with six strikeouts and two walks. The Bruins had
the two good opportunities to score against her, loading the bases
with one out in both the 2nd and 7th innings, but could not cash
in. In the 2nd, she got a foul out and a strikeout, and ended
the game with a force out at the plate and a strikeout.
Taylor Whitmore (1-4) was the hard-luck loser
for the Bruins as she spaced five hits in 5.2 innings with two

the pitchers' duel with more than one safety.
