Game 2 – California Lutheran 12, George Fox

In the nightcap, the Regals banged out 16 hits and posted four
multi-run innings, but this time the Bruins responded at the plate
to keep the pressure on the home time.
Cal Lutheran got three runs in the 1st, starting as Lockwood
singled sharply off the glove of Jenna Kirk at first, advanced on a
sacrifice and a wild pitch, and scored on Tinsley's soft
single to right. The other two runs scored on a two-out
dropped fly ball in right. The Bruins got one run back in the
2nd when Hylton dumped a single into right and scored all the way
from first on Kirk's line double to the wall in left.
In the bottom of the 2nd, Liz Mertel singled, advanced on a
sacrifice, and scored on a double to left-center by Lockwood, who
later scored on a sacrifice fly to right by Labbe. Tinsley
stroked a single left to score Kayla Sakamoto, who had walked,
stolen second, and advanced to third on the sacrifice fly, to cap
the three-run inning.
Nicole Renteria bunted for a hit and Woods doubled her home in
the Bruins' 3rd. In the 4th, the Bruins loaded the
bases on a walk to Genetta Duncan, a single by Rachel Sundquist to
right, and a bunt single by Felicia Chavez, and Kayla Anderson hit
a sacrifice fly to right to place Duncan. The Bruins cut the
deficit to 6-4 in the 5th when Bethany Chriss walked, moved up on
an error at first on a pickoff attempt, and scored on another
double by Kirk.
The Regals picked up two in the 5th on a two-base error in
center on Christianson's fly ball, a bunt single and steal by
Hunter, and a two-run single up the middle by Mertel, but the
Bruins got those back in the 6th.
Anderson led off with a home run to right-center, her second of
the season. Woods singled and Chriss doubled with one out,
and Hylton hit a liner to left on which Debben Hoffer made a
sliding catch. Her throw to second was mishandled, however,
allowing Woods to score on the error.
The Regals added four runs in their half of the 6th on a
two-out, two-run singles by Merkel and Lockwood, runs which turned
out to be crucial when the Bruins scored twice in the 7th.
Duncan singled and Chavez reached on catcher's interference
before Anderson delivered them both with a double to
left-center.
Rachel Fielder (3-2) started and took the setback for the
Bruins, allowing nine hits and six runs, four earned, with two
strikeouts and a walk in four innings. Allyssa DeNDekker
finished up, surrendering seven hits and six runs, five earned,
with one walk. Lewis (1-4), the second of three Cal Lutheran
pitchers, got the win in place of starter Christianson, though she
was touched for seven hits and four runs, three earned, and two
walks with one strikeout.
The Bruins collected 15 hits, led by Duncan's 3-for-3.
Anderson, Renteria, Woods and Kirk had two hits each, with
Anderson driving in four runs. Lockwood, Tinsley and Mertel
had three hits each in the Regals' 16-hit output, while
Sakamoto and Labbe had two apiece.
