Box Score 2 TACOMA, Wash. – Kayla Anderson went
5-for-8 with two home runs and seven runs batted in, leading a
George Fox University attack that collected 24 hits on the day as
the Bruins opened Northwest Conference softball play with a 10-1,
12-0 doubleheader sweep of the University of Puget Sound Loggers
Saturday afternoon here at Logger Field.
Both games were shortened by the college eight-run 'mercy
rule', the first one to five innings and the second one to
six. George Fox improved to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the
conference, while the twinbill was the first two games of the
season for Puget Sound.
Game 1 – George Fox 10, at Puget Sound

The Bruins collected 12 hits and took advantage of four UPS
errors to score seven unearned runs in the opener.
Benefitting from the onslaught was Bruin starter Erin Hento (3-0),
who went four innings for the win, allowing only two hits with one
strikeout and no walks before Amanda Woods finished up with a
perfect 5th inning. The only Logger run came on a home run by
Jaci Young in the 1st.
Woods doubled in a run and Courtney Howard squeezed in another
as the Bruins took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st.
Anderson's three-run homer, her third of the season,
highlighted a five-run second, and she singled in another run in
the 3rd. Anderson had two hits in the game, as did Felicia
Chavez,Howard, Baylee Westrick and Ashley Bunce.
Young (0-1) took the loss for the Loggers, allowing eight hits
and eight runs (one earned) in three innings. She struck out
four and walked two.
Game 2 – George Fox 12, at Puget Sound

The Bruins exploded for four runs in the 3rd, three in the 4th,
and five in the 6th to cruise to the second-game victory.
Allyssa DenDekker (3-0) went five innings for the win, surrendering
three hits with two strikeouts and four walks, with Wood working
the 6th.
Woods slugged a three-run home run, her second of the season, to
start the Bruins' scoring in the 3rd, and another run scored
on a fielding error. Anderson drilled her fourth home run in
the 4th, a two-run blast, and Westrick added a sacrifice fly.
In the 6th, Westrick lined a two-run double and Kat Hylton and
Anderson had RBI singles.
In addition to three hits by Anderson, Hylton, Woods and Howard
had two hits apiece. Anderson, Woods and Westrick had three
RBIs each.
